NETBALL: ANOTHER full throttle performance saw leaders Oldham Netball Club under-16s wrap-up their North-West Junior League programme with a slick 84-13 defeat of Chester.
The teenagers were in terrific form at Hathershaw Sports College, and will now set their sights on the last four of the nationals on April 13.
The result was never in doubt as Oldham, for whom wing attack Bryony Rhodes, centre Rebecca Hope, wing defence Izzie McGlashen and goal shooter Rhianna Egan were to the fore, opened up a 18-4 advantage at the first break.
With confidence running through their veins, Oldham doubled their lead in the second quarter, with goal attack Imogen Campbell-Heanue impressing for the hosts.
Oldham had 11 turnovers in the third quarter, and in one passage of play, wing defence Chinma Ebizie pinched the ball, fired a fast, direct pass to wing attack Megan Allinghan, who made no mistake.
Leading 59-10 with a quarter of the match remaining, it was a case of home many Oldham would score.
Goal shooter Victoria Austin and wing defence Hannah Robinson got in the act by showing their mettle to fend off their opponents and keep possession.
