FOOTBALL:

WALSALL beckons tomorrow as Christ Church C of E primary school’s football team bid to book their place at Wembley Stadium.

The eight-strong squad from Christ Church will be Athletic’s representatives at the regional finals of the npower Football League Kids Cup.

If they win tomorrow in the Midlands, after earlier prevailing at two Oldham tournaments, they will then progress for Grand Final day at Wembley ahead of the League One play-off final on May 19.

The npower Football League Kids Cup is a nationwide six-a-side tournament for under-11s.

It culminates in three grand finals, one for each division, across the npower Football League play-off weekends in May.

The 2011-12 season saw 2,000 schools enter, with those representing Leicester, Brentford and Bristol Rovers being crowned champions of the Championship, League One and League Two.
