A TALENTED 12-year-old diver is making a splash after being selected to compete at the British Gas Elite Junior Diving Championships in Leeds later this month.

Former Oldham Diving Club starlet Anthony Harding will take on some of the country’s most talented 11 to 13-year-olds between March 27-30 as he bids to be crowned national champion in the one metre and 3m springboards, platform and synchro.

Mum Louise has revealed that taking part in the competition is a dream come true for the hugely ambitious youngster, who trains six days a week with the City of Leeds Diving Club.

“He’s always wanted to do this. Since he was a little boy he’s always wanted to be the best,” she said.

“We’re so proud of him. Last year he was injured and just went along for the experience, but this year he can take part.”

The Ashton-based Copley Academy pupil has already tasted success this year at the Armada Cup in Plymouth, where he clinched the gold medal in the 1m springboard and silver in both the 3m springboard and platform.
