High fliers book final date

ThIS year’s Saddleworth under-15s Cricket League Leicester Shield final will be contested between the two teams at the top of the table following easy semi-final victories.
At Little Hey Street, Greenfield scored 126 for nine – a total that was never in danger as they dismissed Heyside for just 39.
In the other semi-final, Saddleworth had a comfortable win at home to Glodwick.
Firstly they restricted the visitors to 69 for eight with Dan Poole taking three for 13, and in reply Saddleworth reached 73 for one.
The final will take place on Bank Holiday Monday, August 26, with the venue still to be decided by the toss of a coin.
Meanwhile, Crompton House School Year Eights have received a plum home draw against Woodhey High School (Bury) in the quarter-finals of the Lancashire Schools’ Cricket Association Under-13 John Heaton Memorial Trophy.
The local youngsters have hit top form in the inter-school knock-out competition to date.
After receiving a bye in round one, they brushed aside William Hulme Grammar School (Manchester) in their second-round clash.
