WHAT A RESULT . . . County Cup winners Waterhead under-14s, fronted by team captain Liam Aspin.
JUBILANT Waterhead under-14s won the North-West Counties Development Cup after beating Rochdale Mayfield 28-10 in an exciting final at Golborne Parkside.
Waterhead turned in a terrific team performance, with the kicking games of Liam Aspin and Garyn Allen also playing a big part.
Captain Aspin won the man-of-the-match award after scoring a superb hat-trick of tries and kicking four goals. Danny Murphy and Callum Taylor crossed for the other tries.
Delighted coach Andy Yates said: “Our forwards were absolutely immense.
“That enabled Aspin and Allen to control the game. The effort and commitment of all the team was fantastic.”
