Jones in the groove at Taunton
Date published: 30 August 2013
CRICKET: DELPH starlet Nathan Jones has been on county duty with the Lancashire Development squad at the five-day Taunton Festival.
The county side didn’t win the event, but teenage ace Jones – son of Delph first-team skipper Grant – did his future prospects no harm as he performed well with the bat.
He scored 18 in a 20/20 clash against Essex, then a superb 70 as he came in at number three in a match which was eventually lost against Buckinghamshire.
Jones was named captain for the final game against Kent, which Lancashire won and he contributed a steady 32 runs.
Jones is in terrific form at present.
He took five wickets at a cost of just two runs in a recent game for Delph’s second XI against Shelley.
The team are currently second in the league table.
