Shield glory for Greenfield

CRICKET: GREENFIELD have won the Saddleworth and District League under-15s Leicester Shield for the sixth time, this time by 29 runs following a tense final against Saddleworth at Well-i-Hole.
The visitors won the toss and elected to bat, though possibly regretted it when Will Wilson took three for seven and left Greenfield reeling on 18 for four.
But skipper Lewis Milne set about repairing the damage, firstly in a 48-run stand with Thomas Bradnum and then 25 with Tom Gallagher.
Wilson, with outstanding figures of six for 14, was the pick of the Saddleworth bowlers.
Set a target of 121 in 40 overs, Saddleworth must have been confident of winning the final at the halfway stage. But Greenfield opening bowlers Harrison Lees and Thomas Bradnum frustrated the home side with some tight overs.
Saddleworth collapsed from 82 for five to 91 all out, as opening bowler Lees cleaned up to finish with figures of three for nine.
