FOURTEEN-year-old tennis starlet Lauren Dowling tore up the competition at the Lancashire County Championships which took place at the Bolton Arena.
Lauren, who is still only 14 and lives on Foxdenton Lane in Chadderton, won FOUR titles – the girls’ under-14s, under-16s and the under-18s titles, then capped off a truly memorable week with a brilliant victory in the women’s final.
Lauren didn’t drop a set all week at the tournament, and her crowning glory in the women’s final came courtesy of a 6-4, 6-4 triumph against Sabrina Federici from the home club.
Proud dad Mark said of his home-schooled sporting talent: “To go through the whole week of matches without dropping a set was quite phenomenal really.
“Lauren has worked so hard over the years, though.
“She’s always trained ever so hard since first playing the game at the age of five, and she earned the rewards for that in Bolton.”
