Salford test for Saddleworth

SADDLEWORTH School Year Eights faced a tough test today when they were hoping to make it through to round four of the ESFA Under-13 Play Station Schools’ Cup with victory against Salford’s St Mary’s RC High School.
The local youngsters have hit top-form in the national knockout competition so far.
After a tense 6-4 victory against All Hallows Catholic College (Macclesfield) in round one, they eased into the third round with an impressive 7-1 win against Brooksbank School and Sports College (Calderdale).
Failsworth School are also through to the third round following a thumping 7-0 victory against Bolton St Catherine’s Academy (Bolton).
The local lads will now host Newall Green High School (Manchester), with the date for that clash still to be confirmed.
Crompton House ran out convincing 7-1 victors against local rivals Newman RC College to book their place in round three, and they will take on West Hill High School (Tameside).
Last seasons’ winners – Northampton School for Boys – are still going strong in the competition.
