EQUESTRIAN: HULME Grammar School’s talented four-strong equestrian team has won qualification for a national schools finals.
Freya Scott (year 12, riding Vladamir), Molly Ditchfield (year nine, riding Boris), Katy Rothwell (year nine, riding Orielton Aquilla) and Kiarra Hulme (year eight, riding Happy) represented the school at a National Schools Equestrian Association show-jumping qualifier at Bishop Burton College in East Yorkshire.
The girls rode into second place in a hard-fought 90cm team competition to win their place in the finals at Addington Manor Equestrian Centre, Buckinghamshire in October.
Kiarra was also third and Katy sixth out of almost 50 competitors in individual competition.
Kiarra won the 80cm competition thanks to a fast clear round, earning a place at the national individual finals in that category out of more than 50 starters in the class.
Equestrian team manager Abigail Longley said: “All four girls rode brilliantly and were an absolute credit to the school, as always.”
This is the second the school team has qualified for the national finals.
