ATHLETICS: SADDLEWORTH youngsters battled it out as they went head to head in tennis and football to round off this year’s village Olympics.
It was almost a whitewash for Greenfield in the tennis — winning seven of eight golds up for grabs across all age groups, with Uppermill winning the age 14-15 boys’ doubles.
Football honours were much more spread, with Delph and Denshaw winning gold for the age seven competition, Dobcross the age 8-9 group, Greenfield the 10-11s, Springhead, Austerlands and Scouthead the age 12-13 and Uppermill in the 14-16 group.
This year’s overall winner was Greenfield.
