We came, we played, we conquered: Chaddy Park boys at the Nou Camp
FOOTBALL: PLAYERS from Chadderton Park’s under-12s Lions team found their dreams coming true when they played at Barcelona’s world-famous Nou Camp stadium in Spain - not once but twice!
Eleven players and 20 family members jetted off to the Catalan capital to contest a tournament organised by Precision Pass. To cap an unforgettable trip, the Lions team won the tournament after beating fellow English side Beverley Town Dynamos 3-0 in the final.
“It was a truly phenomenal trip,” said Lions’ joint-coach Jason Leghorn.
“To play on the pitch at the home of the Champions League winners was a dream come true for all the players and their families.”
Already having been crowned East Manchester League Premier Division champions back home, the talented Lions teams sailed through three group stage games at Barca’s plush training complex.
The Chaddy Park lads then beat Bracknell Town 3-1 inside the huge Nou Camp stadium in the semi-finals, before seeing off Beverley Town’s challenge.
