Gearing up for School Games

ATHLETICS: CHILDREN from a clutch of Oldham schools will converge on nine seperate city venues tomorrow for the eagerly-awaited Greater Manchester Sainsbury’s School Games.
More than 2,000 school pupils have qualified to enter the Greater Manchester School Games after success in local area events. Athletes will compete with schools from across Greater Manchester to become county champions.
Fourteen sports will be on show, including women’s football, netball and handball across nine venues, including the Regional Athletics Arena and the National Cycling Centre.
Yvonne Harrison, GreaterSport CEO, said: “We have athletes from across Oldham joining schools from the other nine boroughs of Greater Manchester to make the Greater Manchester Sainsbury’s School Games one of the largest in the country.
“We are getting very excited and have everything in place to make this one of the best games yet.”
The schools representing Oldham include Blue Coat, Broadfield Primary, Crompton House, Delph, Dobcross, Hodge Clough, Mayfield, Mills Hill Primary, Newbridge, Newman College, Oasis Academy, Oldham Hulme, Radclyffe, Royton and Crompton, Saddleworth, St Joseph’s and Waterhead Academy.
