Ayla Hewitt - medal-worthy performance
DIGGLE athletics starlet Ayla Hewitt was in breath-taking form at the recent National Championship finals in Birmingham.
The Saddleworth School pupil won a gold medal in the long jump with an exceptional 4m 48cm.
Representing Sale Harriers, the 12 year old also reached the 150m sprint final in her age group, finishing fourth.
Proud mum Donna said: “It was a fantastic effort. She was up against some really strong competition from all over the country.
Ayla was first spotted by Sale Harriers three years ago when she impressed at the Saddleworth Olympics.
Sale finished third overall at Birmingham.
