WATERHEAD Warriors’ talented under-14 team capped a great season with victory in the Oldham Youth and Junior Rugby League Cup final which was staged at their own Peach Road ground.
The Warriors (above, right) beat favourites Oldham St Anne’s 16-10 in the final thanks to tries from Bradley Jinks, Joe Wallace and Asa Rogers.
Jenson Hamilton and Joseph Kay added penalties, while Dylan Donbavand was the player-of-the-match.
The cup success follows back-to-back promotion campaigns in the North-West Counties League under the coaching team of Mick Slicker snr, Mick Slicker jnr and George Slicker.
Last summer the Warriors were promoted into League One, and this year the lads won a dramatic play-off final, 6-4 against Thatto Heath, to secure their place in next season’s Premier Division.
