ASHTON'S ability to produce and nurture young golfers for many years has had another boost with success for two of their top prodigies.
Louisa Brunt, now 17, who also plays at Royal Birkdale, and is a regular at county and regional levels has won selection for the England boys and girls team to represent the nation in the German Boys and Girls international championships at St Leon-Rot team.
Louisa has made a consistent start to the season with top 25 finishes in two women's events - the Irish and Welsh Open stroke play championships
Luke Kelly has already enjoyed success at junior level helping Lancashire to victory in the Four Counties Junior Tournament at Childwall.
He has now demonstrated his ability to compete at adult level as the 16-year-old played in the Lancashire Championships staged at Ormskirk Golf Club over 72 holes
Luke posted rounds of 71, 73, 69 and 71 for a total of 284 to finish in a creditable third place behind the winner Mark Ashworth (Clitheroe), who shredded the course record with his final round of 63 to finish on 273, nine shots clear of the field.
