YOUNG mathematicians from Oasis Academy Oldham put their numeracy know-how to the test when they took part in the Number Cruncherz programme with rugby union side Sale Sharks.
The 140 year 7 pupils enjoyed two hours of touch-rugby training and matches led by guest coaches including ex-England rugby union star Hendre Fourie at Sale’s AJ Bell Stadium in Salford. They also took part in numeracy-related activities including budgeting, income and expenditure, prioritising and general business planning.
The Number Cruncherz money management classes for students teach children vital financial skills which will hopefully be of benefit to them in later life, teaching them about budgeting, saving and spending. Financial education is now compulsory for 11 to 16 year olds in England and the programme has been developed with the Personal Finance Education Group charity.
