Home woe as late goals seal Chadderton's fate
Date published: 12 April 2017
TWO injury-time goals sealed Chadderton FC's fate as they slumped to a 5-2 defeat at home to St Helens Town last night.
The hosts trailed to an own goal just after the half-hour mark, before Dale Korie Butler made it two for the Saints in the Hallmark Security North-West Counties League Division One clash.
Former Athletic midfielder Jack Tuohy pulled a goal back after 38 minutes and it was all-square when James Curley scored three minutes into the second half.
Chadderton, watched by Manchester United legend Paul Scholes, fell behind again when Anthony Whelan struck (55), and their hopes of a fightback were extinguished after late goals from Butler and Andrew Presho.
