SADDLEWORTH Rangers recovered from a half-time deficit to claim the points through a 24-10 home win over Drighlington in Division Two of the National Conference League.

Craig Farrimond's side started the contest slowly at Shaw Hall Bank Road and fell behind to a first-minute Ethan Hallas try that was goaled by Michael Sanderson.

Rangers' man-of-the-match Josh Bradbury responded with a score after 22 minutes that was improved by the boot of Ben Whitehead.

But a penalty either side of that try from Sanderson put the Leeds outfit 10-6 to the good at the interval.

Rangers, who had Anthony Morrison sin-binned for an alleged late tackle, hit back in the second half.

Morrison's 50th-minute try and Whitehead's conversion gave the hosts a lead at 12-10.

And there was more joy after 63 and 70 minutes respectively, when Sam Wilson and Whitehead crossed the line to seal the victory, the latter man kicking two further conversions.

Meanwhile, National Conference League bosses are to investigate Waterhead's failure to fulfil their fixture at Stanningley.

Warriors could not raise a team for their trip to West Yorkshire and after Elland pulled out of Division Three last week, they currently sit bottom of the table.

It has also been confirmed that the two clubs finishing the season in the bottom-two places will have to apply for re-election to the Conference.

Elland's withdrawal left Oldham St Anne's without a fixture at the weekend.
