LANCASHIRE over-50s continued their winning run with a 19–run victory at Northumberland in the Northern Counties Championship.
Captained by Crompton’s Alan Whiston, Lancashire made 189 for seven at Ashington, where Mike Ingham top scored with 87. There were also important knocks from David Bartholomew (38), Chris Dearden (35) and John Punchard (25).
Northumberland managed 170 for five in reply, Punchard and Ingham claiming two wickets apiece.
After losing their opening match against Nottinghamshire, Lancashire have now won their last three games. And that sets them up nicely for the Roses clash against Yorkshire at Elland on Wednesday, July 9 (1.30pm).
