Werneth bow out

WERNETH bowed out of the John Willie Lees Wood Cup at the hands of Monton and Weaste at the Coppice last night.
Chasing Monton’s total of 165 and resuming on 48 for three, Werneth were reduced to 121 for nine, at which stage their innings ended in the absence of the unavailable Franco Lenhardt.
The dismissals of Matthew Taylor (33 ) and Mark Dronsfield (29) ended Werneth’s hopes.
CROMPTON’S game against Walsden at Glebe Street hangs in the balance.
Crompton were finally bowled out for 199, Steven Wright (32) and Aqib Zulfiqar (27) making valuable late contributions. Walsden’s Chris Dewhurst took four for 12 off 8.2 overs.
In reply, Walsden were 35 for one off 12 overs when bad light stopped play.
In the other quarter-final being played, Middleton were restricted to 155 for eight at Ashton, who will resume this evening on four for one.
