Lees takes top spot at Fleets
Date published: 18 July 2008
CRANBERRY AC’s trip to Fleets Dam was a profitable one for Tony Lees as his 12lb of roach and skimmers, taken on the tip with maggot and caster on the hook, netted him first place.
Derek Hudson was a fair way behind with level 7lb of silver fish for second place, while Jim Wild rang the changes for a 6lb catch that fell to the tip, pole, pellet, caster, maggot and worm.
OLDHAM Central AC’s match on Baden Hall fisheries saw them fishing the Dam pool where Paul Nield dominated proceedings with just three fish making up his winning 30lb 11oz.
Paul caught three carp, including a club record 14lb 8oz sample.
Dave Barnett took second with his 23lb 2oz net made up of five carp caught on pellet fished up in the water.
That pushed Kevin Holt into third with the tip accounting for his 23lb 1oz.
NON-STOP rain didn’t deter Malc Taylor (Gilders) as he stormed to a win in the Cairo summer league fished on Denshaw Vale.
The pole and bronze maggot tempted 6lb 4oz of roach, beating Mick Jewitt (Tight lines) and Darren Jones into second with 4lb 12oz of skimmers and roach.
Round eleven of the summer league saw Mick Jewitt (Tight lines) take first place with the pole and pellet accounting for an all-skimmer 11lb 8oz.
Kev Garside was second with two good skimmers making up the bulk of his 4lb 11oz, while Malc Taylor (Gilders) took third with an all-roach 4lb 7oz.
JOHN Pearson topped the latest of the Chadderton Mill AC summer series fished on the club water with 28lb 8oz.
Thirteen carp taken on paste fished at just four metres under the tree on peg three saw him edge out silver-fish specialist Fred Prudham.
Steve Hodjeon was third with 20lb of carp and skimmers, beating Conrad Taylor into fourth with 19lb 8oz of carp.
TUESDAY evening’s Diggle AC match on Tanners dam gave Martin Taylor (TRI-CAST Highfield) a win with his 15lb 7oz made up of skimmers and a couple of small carp around the 2lb mark.
Dave Machin was next with 14lb 14oz of skimmers, roach and a solitary 3lb carp. Peter Hill was third with 12lb 12oz of roach and skimmers taken on pellet.
