In-form Delph’s treble chance

DELPH are back in the mix for a Drakes Huddersfield League treble.

Already through to the final of the Sykes Cup, they visit Broad Oak tonight (6.30pm) in the last four of the Examiner Twenty20 Trophy.

And recent wins over reigning champions Honley and Meltham have rekindled Delph’s hopes of premiership one glory.

With just eight points separating the top five — they sit fifth in the table — captain Grant Jones is readying his troops for an assault on the title.

Looking ahead to the visit of second-placed Barkisland tomorrow, Jones said: “They are a good side who have steadily improved as the season has gone on.

“But we’re playing some decent stuff at the moment, with the batters scoring runs and the bowlers taking wickets.

“Even when we had a bad two weeks, it wasn’t that we weren’t playing well, it was more of a case of opposition players chancing their arm and it coming off.”

A big plus for Delph tomorrow is the availability of Lancashire all-rounder Kyle Hogg.

Meanwhile, the second team are at home to their Barkisland counterparts.

WOODHOUSES are on a recovery mission in the Lancashire County League tomorrow.

After a seven-wicket defeat to title-hopefuls Cheetham Hill last week, the Medlock Road outfit will be hoping for better luck against second-from-bottom Dukinfield.
