Probably a test for St Anne’s

OLDHAM St Anne’s are to take part in the Carlsberg Super Cup as part of their pre-season preparations.
The tournament, held at the home of Leigh Miners Rangers, gets underway tomorrow (3pm kick off) when Saints face Halton Simms Cross of the North-West Counties League, winners of the National Cup in 2007.
The following day, the other three quarter-finals are played out. Leigh East face Bank Quay Bulls, Parkside Golborne are up against Pilkington Recs and Leigh Miners will play Bold Miners.
The following Saturday, August 2, the same venue hosts the semi-finals with the final following a week later.
OLDHAM RL reserve team youngsters Steven Fisher and Mark Smith both played for BARLA Great Britain Under-18s as they were beaten 32-10 by Penrith Panthers’ Development team, in the first game of the Australian tour.
SADDLEWORTH Rangers full-back Tom Lever scored a try for England Students in the Universities World Cup final, but hosts Australia emerged 26-16 winners.
