Carroll first home

STUART Carroll was the first of 21 Royton Road Runners to cross the line in the Middleton Harriers 10k road race.
Carroll’s time of 38 minutes, 46 seconds was good enough to edge out fellow club man Bernard Cassidy (39:11). Dave Kershaw and Paul Whitehead were next to finish with times of (40:08) and (40:34) respectively.
A new member of the club, David Hall (41:11) was closely followed by Colin Green (41:35) and Dave Emanuel (41:43). Dave Whittam (42:33) finished ahead of Barry Greaves (43:04), Robert Kellett (43:24) and Chris Eavers (43:31).
Debbie Shaw’s time of (44:50) was good enough to collect the first prize in the women’s over-40s race.
Other Royton runners to finish were Ian Casey (45:22), Dave Phillips (46:16), Dave Smith (47:09), Steve Shaw (47:39), Jeff Cordwell (48:14), Tony Kane (49:05), Teresa Hollins (51:43) and Brian Hurst (61:24).
