Clean sweep for Brookdale

BROOKDALE made a clean sweep of the prizes in the Oldham and District Four Man Team Championship, an event they hosted.
They claimed the first five places on a day when 59 teams participated with tee off times from 7.30am to 3.40pm making it a marathon effort.
Winners of the Stableford with 91 points were Danny Bellis, Gary Lever, Charlie Clough and Mike Arnfield.
Runners-up two points adrift were Jimmy Butt, Colin Buckley, Graham and Gary Whitaker.
Third place went to Ian Thomas, Peter Buckley, Trevor Mayo and Geoff Clarke (88) on the card from Mark Lee, Brian Walker, Mike Wood and Bernard Morrisey.
And in fifth place with 86 points were Gary Coop, Derek Miller, Dave Roberts and Ray Deacon.
SADDLEWORTH have received two home draws in their double bid to make the Manchester Alliance finals.
They are at home to Blackley in the quarter-finals of the Archie Preston mixed foursomes and entertain Denton in the BMW Junior Challenge.
Two other local clubs in the mixed event were drawn away, Ashton at Bolton Deane and Brookdale at Worsley Marriots.
Werneth, the sole local representatives in the last eight of the flagship Dunham Forest Trophy, face a trip to Northenden, having already won away at Sale and claimed home wins over Birchwood, Harwood and Astbury.
SADDLEWORTH’ STEVE Gaynon came out on top in the monthly medal competition thanks to a score of 87-19-68.
He finished a shot clear of Richard Cotton (80-11-69), who edged out Nigel Hughes (75-6-69) on a card play-off for second place.
