SECOND-BOTTOM Radclyffe recorded only their third win of the season in the Ashton and Oldham Cricket Alliance.
Chambers, top-scoring with 63, White (30) and Ackroyd (27) laid the foundations for the 55-run win over mid-table Foresters.
But they just missed out on maximum points after Fuller’s unbeaten 41 saw their opponents hanging on at 133 for eight in reply to 188 for nine. Wright and Grimes were among the wickets with four for 34 and three for 43 respectively.
Europa Exiles survived a few late jitters to claim a four-wicket win.
Finn and Clarke, with four for 30 and three for nine respectively, did the damage as Copthorne crashed to 67 all out.
After an opening stand of 40, Europa looked on course for an emphatic victory, but the loss of quick wickets — Hussain took three for 12 — made it hard work in the end.
Waterhead Methodist did not have it all their own way against basement boys St Mary’s HC, who were limited to 123 for eight. Lawrence (24) and Slater (21) were the mainstays of the innings.
Jolley was unbeaten on 21 in reply — Bramham had earlier compiled 22 — as ’Head limped home with three wickets to spare.
Jasim’s superb 104, backed up by 78 from Nazeer, helped AJK to 279 for four against Jay Hind, who were 130 for three at the end of their overs.
Friends remain Star Eleven’s nearest challengers at the top of the table after bowling out Newtonhurst for a paltry 45. Wasim took three for nine.
They reached their goal in the seventh over and with all 10 wickets intact.
Scores are —
Copthorne 67 (Finn 4-30, Clarke 3-9), Europa Exiles 68-6 (Jarvey 20, Hussain 3-12); Radclyffe 188-9 (Chambers 63, White 30, Ackroyd 27), Foresters 133-8 (Fuller 41 not out, Thaigarajan 28, Wright 4-34, Grimes 3-43); St Mary’s HC 123-8 (Lawrence 24, Slater 21), Waterhead Methodist 125-7 (Bramham 22, Jolley 21 not out); Newtonhurst 45 (Wasim 3-9), Friends 46-0; AJK 279-4 (Jasim 104, Nazeer 78), Jay Hind 130-3.
JAY HIND won the inaugural Twenty20 competition hosted by Greengate, at The Lancaster Club, where Foresters and the hosts also took part in the round-robin event.
The first game saw Greengate set Jay Hind 85 to win after an awful start which left the hosts reeling on 19 for seven. Hammer (29) and Hunter (21) then gave them a hint of credibility against the bowling of Hitesh (3 for 11). Jay Hind made light work of the run chase, reaching the target in the 11th over, Ifthikar top scoring with 33.
Greengate fared better against Foresters thanks to a superb 101 from skipper Vinny Clark in just 12 overs. Greengate finished on an impressive 174-6.
Foresters, helped mainly by Lee (37), were in the hunt until Simpson took three wickets in the 14th over. Foresters eventually reached a healthy 152-8 from their 20 overs.
It was Jay Hind, however, who won the day by beating Foresters in the final game. Hitesh (2-16) was again among the wickets as Foresters were restricted to 94 all out, Steele the main contributor with 30.
Dharmesh (29 not out) and Ifthikar (16) got Jay Hind off to a good start before the rain came with the score on 63-3 from nine overs. Jay Hind were awarded the victory on superior run rate - and with it the title.
