Heyside’s big chance to get back on track

PETER SKUSE has done his utmost to revive Saddleworth’s fortunes.
LEADERS Heyside look to have the perfect opportunity to get their Armstrongs Office Furniture Saddleworth and District Cricket League title bid back on track tomorrow.
Beaten in their last two games which has allowed nearest challengers Bamford Fieldhouse to narrow the gap to 17 points, Mark Barnes’ side entertain struggling Saddleworth.
The visitors to Little Hey Street hit their lowest point of the season when they were beaten by next-to-bottom Droylsden last weekend.
Peter Skuse, the Saddleworth captain and professional, is doing his utmost to try to lift his side’s fortunes — he is averaging more than 40 with the bat this season — but too many of his players are out of touch to put a consistent run of results together.
Bamford, on the other hand, have been successful in five of their last six games — the other match was abandoned without a ball being bowled — and should be far too strong for Droylsden.
Uppermill, who go to Hollinwood, are without a win in their last three outings and are being strongly pressed by Moorside and Austerlands for third place.
Moorside make the trip to Stayley, who will be in good spirits after defeating Heyside — their first win since June 1.
Austerlands, who are also on a recovery mission after losing to Glodwick, welcome Friarmere to West View.
As for Glodwick, they believe a place in next season’s LCB Cup (top-five teams qualify) is well within their capabilities after a run of four wins out of five.
Shaw, who made a valiant attempt to overhaul Moorside’s total of 185 last Saturday, are their hosts.
