THE Saddleworth and District Cricket League's under-18s are through to the Inter-League Colts Trophy final.
The representative team's last group game against the North Lancs/Cumbria League at Hawcoat Park near Barrow-in-Furness was abandoned because of rain.
Success for the home side yesterday would have seen them pip the Saddleworth League for top spot.
Instead, Scott Rowbottom's side will meet the Lancashire County League in the final.
RAIN wiped out Saturday's Armstrongs Office Furniture Saddleworth and District Cricket League programme, with no play possible in any of the 12 first or second XI games.
Rain halts fixtures
RAIN washed out the entire Lake Garage CLL programme on Saturday along with yesterday’s Burton Cup final between Monton and Weaste and Littleborough.
The Burton final will now be played on Saturday, September 13.
The CLL colts defeated the Bolton League by six wickets in their Lancashire Inter-League fixture at Westhoughton yesterday.
Bolton won the toss and, surprisingly, elected to bat first on a damp wicket.
They were bowled out for 88, Crompton’s Aqib Zulfiqar taking three for 12, Heywood’s Tom Hardman three for three and Ashton’s Mo Abid three for 22.
A rain delay meant a revised target of 86 for the CLL to chase, a total they passed for the loss of four wickets, man-of-the-match Danny Pawson (Heywood) complementing his two catches and two stumpings with a crucial unbeaten 32.
