Weekend cricket roundup

A PLACE at Lord’s is back on the agenda for Woodhouses on Sunday when they go to Woodhouse Grange near York for their rescheduled National Village Cup semi-final.
A combination of the weather and the captains taking opposite views on a reduced overs game resulted in last weekend’s tie at Medlock Road being abandoned without a ball bowled.
Woodhouses’ skipper Gareth Tuson said “yes, we’ll play,” but his opposite number, Steve Burdett, said “no” which he was entitled to do under the competition rules.
As a consequence, Grange have home advantage — the tie is switched if there is no play on the original date — and Woodhouses have had to postpone their Lancashire County League fixture at Flowery Field.
It has also meant they will be without opening batsman Phil Sutcliffe.
TOP plays second in the Lake Garage Central Lancashire League tomorrow.
Crompton, six points behind leaders Heywood, are the hosts for the biggest match of the weekend - weather permitting.
Sunday sees two derby matches, Crompton visiting Werneth and Oldham travelling to Royton.
Oldham, in fourth place and unbeaten in six games, entertain Unsworth tomorrow, while Werneth go to Littleborough and Royton travel to Wood Cup winners Monton and Weaste.
HEYSIDE can take a further step towards a club treble in the Armstrongs Office Furniture Saddleworth and District Cricket League this weekend.
With the Moore Cup safely in the bag, the Little Hey Street outfit tackle title rivals and hosts Bamford Fieldhouse in the final of the Tanner Cup on Sunday.
Twenty-four hours earlier, the finalists meet at Heyside when vital league points are at stake.
The other key fixture tomorrow sees Uppermill at home to Austerlands, with both sides seeking to enhance their hopes of qualifying for next season's LCB Cup.
IT’S back to Drakes Huddersfield League premiership one business for Delph.
Grant Jones’ side were hugely disappointed after last Sunday’s defeat by Barkisland in the Romida Sykes Cup final, so they will be desperate to keep their faint title hopes alive by beating visitors Shepley tomorrow (1pm).
