Mossley in mood to hit the ground running

AFTER overseeing a successful pre-season, Mossley manager Chris Willcock will be hoping for a winning start to their UniBond League, division one north campaign tomorrow.

The Lilywhites, who won five of their seven matches in the build-up to the new season, hit the road to Clitheroe.

Danny Egan scored a hat-trick in last weekend’s 4-0 defeat of Dukinfield Town and Willcock will be looking to the striker to continue his rich vein of form.

CHADDERTON FC are in good spirits as they count down to a hectic spell of action, kicking off with a tough trip to Maine Road in the FA Cup extra preliminary round tomorrow.

Manager Paul Buckley is expected to make several changes to the side which overcame Leek CSOB 2-0 in midweek.

He said: “It was unfair for the younger players to travel that far and not get a run-out.

“It will be their first experience of the FA Cup and I want them to enjoy it.”

Chadderton return to Vodkat North-West Counties League division one action on Monday when they play host to Rochdale Town.

OLDHAM Town believe a good FA Cup run could pay for their season.

Prize money grows at each stage of the prestigious competition and Tony Mills’ side, who are at home to Ashton Athletic in the extra preliminary round tomorrow, are setting their sights on a cash windfall.

Buoyed by a 4-3 defeat of Padiham on Tuesday night, Mills has no injury worries for the visit of Athletic, who pipped Town for promotion to the Vodkat North-West Counties League premier division last season.
