DUKINFIELD beat Oldham 5-3 to seal ‘A’ division runners-up as the Oldham and District Golf League programme was completed.
But that result was enough for Oldham ‘A’ to finish fourth — their best position for many years — with Lee Melia and Lee Blainey winning 3 and 2 and Paul Pattinson and Rick Sweet earning a half.
The League matchplay has reached the semi-finals stage with Saddleworth guaranteed a finalists as Paul Green and Steve Taylor meet clubmates Bernard Andrew and Glyn Dixon while Stamford’s James Woodcock and Anthony Cavanagh play Werneth’s Lee Rowbotham and Michael Farrimond.
League officials are looking for a neutral venue for the KO Cup final between Stamford ‘A’ and Dukinfield ‘A’, due to be played on September 21.
The league’s end-of-season tournament and presentation will this year be held at Ashton on Sunday, October 12.
