Failsworth in runs bonanza

FREE-SCORING Failsworth Macedonia piled up the runs in division one of the Site Electrical North Manchester League.

They recorded a mammoth 381 for eight against Elton Vale, who reached 246 for nine in reply.

At the opposite end of the runs scale, Springhead were shot out for 51, leaving Blackley a straightforward task in their reply.

Saddleworth’s third team have the psychological edge going into their rearranged Stokes Cup final at home to Rochdale Catholic Club thirds on Bank Holiday Monday.

The two teams met in division three, and Saddleworth were heading for victory when rain stopped play.

Rochdale were 112 for six, in reply to 212 for five when the weather intervened.

On Sunday, Failsworth Macedonia seconds lost by 10 wickets at Rochdalians, while Greenfield thirds were five-wicket winners over their Roe Green counterparts.

But there was disappointment for Springhead seconds and Uppermill thirds in division four as both suffered heavy defeats.
