Delph bid to boost title hopes
Date published: 22 August 2008
WITH five games to go in premiership one of the Drakes Huddersfield League, Delph still harbour hopes of title glory.
An emphatic 10-wicket defeat of Shepley kept them in with a shout, and a repeat performance at Skelmanthorpe tomorrow would further raise expectations of mounting a late assault.
Although Grant Jones’ side are 12 points off the pace, with top two Golcar and Honley playing one another, Delph look to have a perfect opportunity to narrow the gap.
THE fate of next month’s Champions Trophy in Pakistan is unlikely to be determined until Sunday, after the International Cricket Council decided to hold further talks on the vexed issue.
England, New Zealand and Australia are expected to withdraw from the tournament because of security fears if the event goes ahead as scheduled in Pakistan, which has suffered several recent terrorist incidents.
The tournament may be switched to Sri Lanka.
