SADDLEWORTH’S third team are celebrating in the Site Electrical North Manchester League.

The Well-i-Hole outfit lifted the Stokes Cup — the division three knock-out competition — after an 18-run win over Rochdale Catholic Club seconds.

Saddleworth, playing in front of their own supporters, made 140 for eight, before reducing Rochdale to 122 all out.

They are now setting their sights on a league and cup double. Although they sit 10 points behind leaders East Lancs PM seconds, they have five games in hand.

Saddleworth narrowed the gap with a 149-run win over Woodbank thirds on Sunday, while East Lancs suffered a 14-run defeat against Greenfield thirds.

Only two games survived on Saturday.

Springhead had a tremendous four-wicket win over Fothergill and Harvey, but Failsworth Macedonia slipped to a 32-run loss at Blackley.

Uppermill thirds enjoyed a profitable Bank Holiday weekend to stake a claim for promotion from division four.

After beating Elton Vale thirds by five wickets on Sunday, they followed up a 19-run victory over Walshaw thirds.
