Tonge destined for fourth-place finish

GLYNN Storer won the £800 top prize in the Moorside Classic, beating Andrew Sykes 21-19 in the final. TONGE are on course to finish fourth in the Manchester Premier League after beating Tottington 9-6 (203-151) on Wednesday.
Tonge winners were Gary Ellis (21-4), Jimmy Derby (21-11), Nicky Brooks (21-11), Colin Lane (21-12), Mark Dwayre (21-13) and Laurence Hallett (21-16).
Tonge’s next match is at Warrington side Pierpoint next Wednesday (7.30pm).
THE Failsworth League’s Merit finals will be played at Delph on Sunday (start and strike-out noon).
The players involved are I Howarth and W Holland (Delph), R Prime (North Chadderton), M Coleman (Phoenix), J Patterson (Royton), S Mellor and L Kewley (Stanley Road), and A Bidwell (Star).
TONGE’S Colin Lane is in action in Norden BC’s Your Choice men’s singles competition on Sunday (6pm).
THE Inbev Winter Bowls League at Chadderton Cot will get under way on Saturday, September 20.
A delegates meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 9 (8pm) at which clubs must provide their full list of players with BCGBA numbers.
The league will feature the same teams as last year, although Stanley Road have changed their name to Nimble Nook.
