OLDHAM and Royton Harriers are setting up a new group for road runners of all standards.

If you’ve been inspired by the Olympics, completed the Race for Life, are aiming for a 10k or have ideas of running a marathon, get along to the Athletics Centre at Radclyffe School, Chadderton starting on Monday, September 1 and ask for Pete Williams.

Training sessions at the club will take place on Monday and Thursday evenings from 6.45 until 8pm with other runs arranged for more experienced runners.

If you are a runner interested in improving your times, or a total beginner who wants to give it a try, then get along to the track on Hunt Lane, Chadderton at 6.45pm on Monday.

Any queries email Pete on petecw29@aol.com or call on 07739 578723.

Owen had another good run in the Royton Trail 5.5 mile race to finish seventh in 34:39, but was beaten home by club-mate Mike Mannings who finished fifth in 33:15.

Jane Augsberger was 47th in 40:59 with Darren Mannings 51st in 41:15.

The Moonraker 10k in Middleton saw Owen finish strongly in eighth place in 36:16, followed by Pete Williams 63rd in 44:32.
