Michael Bird — top batsman AND a hat-trick
TEENAGER Michael Bird had a match to remember for Uppermill seconds against Stayley.
The 15-year-old all-rounder top scored with 48 out of a total of 197 for nine.
And if that was not impressive enough, he then followed up by claiming a hat-trick of wickets in his first over.
Michael went on to take six wickets for 13 runs from five overs – and even then the special day wasn’t over for the son of Uppermill chairman Chris Bird.
To complete a dream match, Michael ran out the last man with a direct hit as Stayley slumped to a season’s-low 38 all out.
