IT was a case of missed chances for Santos AFC as they started their life in the Lancashire & Cheshire League with a 1-1 draw at VC United.
They totally dominated proceedings in the first half and deservedly opened the scoring, but a string of missed chances combined with a great performance from the VC United keeper kept the score to 1-0.
VC United slowly crept back into the game in the second half and from their first shot on target they levelled the scores.
Although Santos continued to make chances and hit the woodwork late on, they could not get that all-important winner.
On Saturday, an under-strength Santos side were beaten 3-1 at Droylsden Amateurs despite taking the lead.
The home side equalised on the stroke of half time and came out the stronger team in the second half.
Santos have a fundraising night on Thursday, September 11 at the Greyhound Inn, in Royton, starting at 7.30pm.
