Casey clocks best

A BREAK in the Royton Road Runners club championship series allowed several members to compete in other events.
Ian Casey was the first Royton runner to cross the line in the Longford Marathon, in Ireland, with a personal best time of 3 hours 34 mins.
Steve Shaw, running his third marathon this year, was next in 3:37.50, followed by Jeff Cordwell (4:09.10).
Dave Smith (1:52.05) ran the Longford Half Marathon, despite being involved in a serious traffic accident four weeks previously.
Six Road Runners athletes took their chace in the Wolverhampton Marathon.
Bernard Cassidy was the first runner over 50, crossing the line in 17th place overall with a time of 3:00.54.
Bernard Goodwin (3:15.46) was next to finish for Royton, with David Emanuel (3:17:47) close behind.
Chris Eavers (3:27.23), John Williamson (3:51.36) and Louise Saunders (4:47.02) were the other Royton competitors to complete the course.
