Mills seeks instant response

OLDHAM Town kick off their FA Vase campaign tomorrow with a second-qualifying round tie at AFC Emley.
Manager Tony Mills will be looking for a positive reaction after last Saturday’s 5-0 defeat at AFC Liverpool, their first league loss of the campaign.
“It will be interesting to see how the lads bounce back,” he said. “They have not been used to losing and being played off the park.”
The Town manager has selection worries with central defensive pair Tim Buxton and Damian Schofield ruled out through injury.
Schofield could be out for a lengthy spell after sustaining a broken nose during last weekend’s defeat.
Mills will also have to make a late decision about Stuart McGill, who aggravated a groin strain in the warm-up at AFC Liverpool on a day when everything went wrong for the local side.
CHADDERTON could have a side reinforced by the return of five players for tomorrow’s Vodkat North-West Counties League, first division game at Darwen.
Manager Paul Buckley has captain and central defender Mark Egerton available after completing a two-match ban, while Ian Knapman is back from holiday.
Nathan Jackson, Marvin Walters and Bobby Fulham, who all missed last Saturday’s home 2-2 draw against Norton United through injury, have a chance of returning tomorrow.
Micky Green, who came off the substitutes’ bench to score twice and overturn a two-goal deficit, staked a strong claim for a starting spot.
Chadderton’s second string visit Atherton LR in the reserve division.
