Bury took the lead early in the second half with a touchdown and, as Oldham heads dropped, the hosts added four further touchdowns.
VETS gave a gutsy display before losing 15-7 at Trafford MV where their injury-ravaged side had to play with 14 players for 70 minutes.
A try from George Bernard, converted by Chris Davies, gave Oldham a 7-0 lead.
Trafford drew level shortly before half time and then sealed victory late in the game through a penalty and converted try.
