SADDLEWORTH Rangers saw off the challenge of North London Stags to run out 36-24 winners in the National Youth League.

Rangers started quickly, tries from Josh Brown and Stephen Nield being converted by Ethan Langhorn.

A Langhorn penalty, followed by a try for the half-back, sent the home team into an 18-12 half-time lead.

Further scores for David Orwell and Michael Birch, with extras added by Langhorn, made it 30-12 before a late comeback by the team from the capital.

It wasn't such good news for Waterhead in the same competition, as they fell to a 44-10 defeat to Celtic Crusaders Colts.

Tom Whitehead and Jack Pemberton got first-half tries, Sean Garrett converting one of them.

OLDHAM St Anne's under-18s enjoyed an excellent 22-12 win at Ashton Bears in North-West Counties Youth League division one.

Musadik Khan stood out along with Callum Casey and Michael Arrowsmith, while the man-of-the-match award went to Ben Marsden.
