Delph sign off on high note

DELPH, winners of the Examiner Twenty20 Cup, had to settle for fourth place in premiership one of the Drakes Huddersfield League.
They were six points behind Honley, who were crowned champions for the fourth year on the trot.
Delph completed their fixtures with a 16-run win over Holmfirth, who were restricted to 88 for eight — Kamran Mirza took six for 25 — in a match reduced to 48 overs per side.
Micklehurst, who wrecked Golcar’s title hopes on the last day of the season, finished in their highest position — sixth — since promotion to the top-flight.
Heroes for the Castle Lane club in their four-wicket win over the championship contenders were Quasir Rashid (41), Chris Brazewell (34 not out), Tom Whittle (28) and Mel Austin (27).
WOODHOUSES, beaten semi-finalists in the National Village Cup, ended up seventh in the final Lancashire County League standings.
The weather took its toll on the Medlock Road outfit in the second half of the season, with five of the last six matches abandoned without a ball being bowled.
