BAMFORD FIELDHOUSE v HEYSIDE

HEYSIDE Cricket Club can look forward to more good times according to first-team captain Mark Barnes.

The Little Hey Street outfit added the Tanner Cup to the second XI’s Moore Cup triumph with a terrific three-wicket win over favourites Bamford Fieldhouse.

“If somebody had said at the start of the season we would finish runners-up in the league and win the cup, I wouldn’t have believed them,” reflected Barnes.

“I’m chuffed to bits at the way we’ve played. Apart from one or two of us, we’re still a young team who will hopefully learn a lot from this experience.

“Winning the cup was an unbelievable feeling. The team showed tremendous spirit and, at the end of the day, I think we just wanted it a bit more.”

Nick Campbell, appearing in his third consecutive final (two with Shaw), was named man-of-the-match.

After claiming one for 23 from nine overs, the all-rounder finished unbeaten on 67 to see his side home.
