Rangers bid to build on solid start

THREE out of three is the aim for Saddleworth Rangers tomorrow afternoon, but it will be no easy task at home to Eastmoor Dragons (2.30pm).

The Wakefield outfit have recovered from last season’s relegation from the National Conference League premier division to sit in second spot in division one, with three wins out of four.

But with no significant injury problems, coach Keith Brennan is simply looking for another good performance from his team.

“We are aiming to raise the bar with our performances every week,” said Brennan, whose side have only let in one try in their two wins so far this season.

“We have a lot of players challenging for places and it means nobody can afford to rest on their laurels.

“It is a lucky position we are in at the moment, as other sides are struggling for numbers.”

Oldham St Anne’s will hope to pick up a win on the road at bottom-of-the-table Normanton Knights (2.30pm), but will have to manage without front row pair Peter Deakin (back) and Alex Eyres (shoulder) in doing so.

Jason Best could come back in at prop but is rated as only a 50-50 chance.

In division two, Waterhead have plenty of casualties to cater for prior to their home game with Crosfields (2.30pm).

In addition to Keiran Grennan and Warren Druggitt, both absent last week, there is now Danny Day (ankle ligaments) who is out for at least a month.

The Peach Road side also have concerns over Nick Johnson (hamstring) and Rory Freek (calf).
