MOSSLEY have been drawn away to Tameside neighbours Curzon Ashton in the third qualifying round of the FA Cup on Saturday, October 11.
And the reward for the winners will be to be possibly only 90 minutes away from a place in the first-round proper.
Lilywhites manager Chris Willcock, a former Curzon player, is excited by the draw.
He said: “It is one of the ties of the round, a local derby and a match of great local interest.
“Both teams are in fine form and it has the ingredients to be a great football match.”
There is also a big financial reward as the winners will pick up a cheque for £7,500. Mossley have already pocketed £9,000 for progressing through three rounds.
Vice-chairman Les Fitton said: “It is a great deal of money for a non-league club like ourselves and will pay the bills for quite a few weeks.”
Willcock has acted swiftly to replace injured central defender Nick Boothby by capturing Liam Coyne from Witton Albion.
The 6ft 6in Coyne, who has previously played for Bolton Wanderers, Leigh RMI, FC United, Winsford, Warrington and Chorley, made his debut in the FA Cup win at Kendal Town.
Boothby has pulled a calf muscle, but faces a battle to regain his place as Coyne was named man of the match on his debut.
Meanwhile, Phil Charnock has been released by Mossley after finding the travelling from his home at Ormskirk difficult.
Mossley are in action tonight as they have a friendly against Rochdale Town at Seel Park.
CHADDERTON have been dealt a new blow with chairman Dave Greaves quitting the Broadway club.
Mr Greaves, who has been connected with the club for 28 years, says the uncertainty about the future is one of the main reasons for his decision.
He said: “As chairman people would ask me questions, but I was unable to give them answers.
“The uncertainty about the club’s future has dragged on since March and we are still no nearer a take-over.
“It will be a big wrench and it is very sad, but it is not a knee-jerk reaction.
“I have been a volunteer for 28 years and once the enjoyment goes and it becomes a chore, as it had become, I decided to call it a day.”
Mr Greaves added that he had also been acting as stand-in secretary following Louise Robson’s decision to stand down.
Chadderton have also had a setback on the pitch with 19-year-old midfield man Nathan Jackson breaking a leg in the defeat at Bootle.
Chadderton were beaten 3-0 at home by top-of-the-table Padiham in the reserve division on Saturday.
But former Legends striker Steve Barrow scored both goals for Chadderton reserves who last night defeated Cheadle Town 2-0 at Broadway.
Had the local side been more clinical in front of goal they would have won by an even wider margin.
OLDHAM Town’s defensive injury worries have eased with Tim Buxton and Damian Schofield back in action after injury for the home victory against Stone Dominoes.
Buxton started and Schofield was on the bench.
FORMER Legends striker Steve Barrow scored both goals for Chadderton who last night defeated Cheadle Town 2-0 at Broadway in the reserve division of the Vodkat North West Counties League.
Had the local side been more clinical in front of goal they would have won by an even wider margin.
