Merediths shine for Werneth A

FATHER and son, Stuart and Darryl Meredith were in fine form for Werneth A against Hollinwood A in the Oldham Table Tennis League first division.

The Merediths scored three wins each, supported by Peter Morris (2) in the their 9-1 win.

Hollinwood B recorded an 8-2 win against Honeywell A, Tristran Swann and Ian Quinn winning three each, while BAE B had a welcome 6-4 win against Werneth B with doubles from Kevin and Mick Hill, matched by Eddie Darlington for Werneth.

Hollinwood D beat Pennine 9-1 in the second division with maximum wins from John Hannah, Andy McNabb and Steve Mather.

Pennine recovered in the their next match with a convincing win over Grotton A 7-3, Glen Chadwick winning three.

A close match between Failsworth A and Honeywell B resulted in a win 6-4 for Failsworth. Juniors Matt Evans (2) and Jake Crawley (1) were backed by two wins from the experienced Steve Collins.

Pete Dawson played well to win three for Unison B but it didn’t stop Gilders taking their third division match 6-4.

Newly-promoted Saddleworth CC found it tough at Failsworth B, losing 10-0.

Meanwhile, Ian Cockcroft was outstanding with three wins for Deaf Club A in their 7-3 success against Owls A.

Honeywell D maintained their 100-per-cent record with a 6-4 win against Droylsden, Alan Wynn (3) Ken Dunkerley (2) leading the way for Honeywell.

Failsworth C juniors Callum Jones (3) Paul King (2) and James Collins (1) were worthy winners 7-3 against Uppermill B.

Juniors Alex Riley (3) and Karl Jones (1) helped OTTC D to a 5-5 draw against Honeywell F.

OTTC C’s 7-3 win against St. Saviours centred around five juniors with Natalie Wood (3) and Abigail Griffith (1) couting for OTTC and Alex Leach (2) for St Saviours.
