Nook take over

NIMBLE NOOK have climbed to the top of both the snooker and card tables in the Oldham Amateur Snooker League.

They had a tough test at the in-form Stanley Road but were more than up for the challenge.

Gary Walch got Nook off to a good start, winning the first frame against S Hubbert Jnr before John Merrington levelled the scores for the home side.

But from there on in it was Nimble Nook all the way with wins for J Courtney, S Schofield and T Prince adding up to an emphatic 5-1 success which puts Nimble Nook a point clear at the top.

North Chadd bounced back from their whitewash at the hands of Stanley Road last week to record their own whitewash of Oldham Cricket.

Deaf ‘B’ ended the unbeaten run of Little Cot ‘A’ with a great 5-1 win that puts them joint second alongside North Chadd and Stanley Road.

Nimble Nook have joined Springbank ‘B’ at the top of the card league on 19 points.

The next delegates’ meeting will be held on November 2.

Any team wishing to enter players in the Peter Smith Individual or Ossie Meadows Pairs knockout competitions should bring their lists, along with £2 per player.

LEAGUE champions Cricket ‘B’ have made a good start to the new season in the Saw-Tech Shaw Snooker League with two 5-1 wins against their own ‘A’ team and Comrades ‘A’ .
Comrades ‘B’, who finished bottom of the league last season, have had a good start with a 5-1 win and 4-2 win.

Royton Cons ‘A’ made a solid start with a 5-1 win over their own ‘B’ team -formerly Tara Leisure. But they suffered in the second game with a 5-1 defeat at Comrades ‘B’.
