Valley off the mark

NEWLY-PROMOTED Tame Valley’s first team made it third time lucky by registering their first victory of the campaign in division two central of the JJB North West Counties Squash League.
After losing their opening two matches, Valley defeated a strong Preston Grasshoppers second team 3-2 thanks to spirited performances from Jamie Maddox, Dave Swallow and Amir Manachouri.
The second team also found a winning trio as Herbie Roebuck, Wayne Smith and Steve Buxton steered them to a 3-2 victory against Wigan Cricket Club thirds.
The third and fourth teams had splendid 5-0 victories against Hyde Cricket Club thirds and Cheetham Hill fourths, respectively.
Graham Hall, Simon Jump, John Heston, Eric Buchannan and Andrew Bailey won for the thirds.
Richard Green, Rod Humphries, Mark Gartside, Derek Leyland and Steve Brannan were the winners for the fourths.
